About Athena

Established in 2003, Athena Construction Group has rapidly emerged to be the premier Service-Disabled Veteran, Woman-Owned construction company in the US. This distinction has emerged as a result of Athena’s commitment to its core values: communication, quality of workmanship, responsiveness and an adherence to solid project management principles.

Athena understands that behind every project there is a distinct human element. Every project is an investment of an individual’s hopes, visions and a need to fulfill something that is missing. Athena endeavors to ensure that taking care of the emotional converges with the logistical. In the end it is all about trust and this is where Athena excels.

From additions to boardrooms, Athena has successfully completed over 400 projects ranging from residential remodeling, renovations of historic properties, light commercial construction to include dental office renovations, and interior modifications of Class A office space for prominent DC law firms, financial institutions, telecommunications companies and K Street lobbying groups. Due to Athena’s exceptional level of responsiveness, communications and "CAN DO" attitude Athena is the contractor of choice for homeowners, interior designers and nationally recognized property management companies.

The principals of Athena are Amber Peebles, President and Melissa Schneider, Vice President. Ms. Schneider received her undergraduate degree from Duke University's Trinity College of Arts and Sciences and her graduate degree from the School of Engineering & Applied Science at The George Washington University. Ms. Peebles has a degree in Business and Human Resources as well as certification from Villanova in Project Management. Ms. Peebles is Chairman Emeritus of the Marine Executive Association and is currently Chair of the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce Construction Business Council. Ms. Peebles held a secret level security clearance while on active duty and Ms. Schneider held a TS-SCI clearance both on active duty and post service during employment by defense contractors.
